Steps to Finding Articles

1. Choose a database, in 1 of 3 ways:

Databases by Subject
Look for a database that is specific to your topic and discipline by browsing databases by subject. Keep in mind that our General databases are often a good place to start as they have journals that cover a wide range of subjects.

A-Z Database List
Look at this list if you know the database you want to use by name. It is the complete list of UWF Library databases.

Research Guides
These guides have been created by librarians and include the most useful resources for your discipline and/or topics, including "Articles" tabs that list relevant databases. These can also get you in touch with the subject-specialist librarian in your discipline in case you need more help.

2. Search the database.

Search for an article by using keywords, etc.

If you are looking for a scholarly article, be sure to limit to "peer-reviewed," "scholarly," "academic," or "refereed" journals if the option is provided.

3. Find the Full-Text (entire) article.

Use the full text links within the databases to view the article (PDF versions are preferred, if available).

If the full text is not available in the database, i.e. you are only seeing the citation or abstract, use or SFX to see if the full text is available in another one of our databases. If it isn't, you can check our catalog to see if we have it in a print journal. If UWF does not have access to the article, you can always request it via Interlibrary Loan.
