COLLEGE OF BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIPS
Orville Beckford Scholarship
This scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking
students majoring in a business discipline. Students seeking this award
should be registered for at least two courses and maintain a GPA of 3.0
(undergraduate) or 3.5 (graduate). Although not the determining factor
for receiving the award, financial need will be considered. This
scholarship is awarded for an academic year, not to include the summer
semester.College of Business Scholastic Excellence
Awards
Each spring semester the College of Business Scholastic Excellence Award
is presented to a minimum of ten undergraduate Business students on the
basis of cumulative GPA. Student GPAs through the fall term of the
previous year are considered. Students must be enrolled in the spring
semester with a minimum of 30 credit hours completed at UWF and have
obtained Junior or Senior status at time of the awards. These
scholarships are awarded automatically without a need for an application
or review.
Colonial Properties Trust Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded in the form of a one bedroom, unfurnished
apartment with rent paid by Colonial Properties Trust for a one-year
period, beginning in the fall semester. Scholarships are awarded to a
deserving student, based on merit, who is enrolled in the College of
Business, preferably majoring in fields of study related to real estate
(finance, marketing, etc.). Recipients of this award are responsible for
all utilities.
The Brigadier General and Mrs. Michael L.
Ferguson Scholarship for Sons and Daughters and Military Veterans
Awards are made to the son or daughter of a deceased,
active duty or retired veteran who demonstrates leadership capability
and a commitment to services. Financial need may be considered.
Applicants should have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 to qualify
and maintain this GPA in order for renewal. Qualifying applicants
should submit two character recommendations and a scholarship
application to the College of Business Dean's Office. Scholarship
awards are made for fall and spring semesters.
The C. L. Fountain Family Business Ethics
Scholarship
College of Business undergraduate students who have taken a minimum of
one hour in an approved Business Ethics course, show financial need
(must be documented through financial aid) and demonstrate a commitment
to serving their community are eligible for this award. Awards are for
the fall and spring semesters. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of
two courses during each semester of the award and remain in good
academic standing. Recipients of this scholarship are required to
provide a statement indicating activities undertaken to serve their
community to the College of Business Dean’s Office.
The John C. Pace, Jr. Graduate
Scholarship
These fall and spring scholarships can be used in conjunction with other
sources of financial assistance for graduate students who have been
admitted to either the College of Business MBA or Masters of Accountancy
program. Students must be enrolled in six or more semester hours of
graduate credit for each term of the award. An entering GPA of 3.0 is
required for new graduate students and must be maintained to continue
receiving the scholarship.
John C. Pace, Jr. Achievement Scholarship
for Continuing Undergraduate Students
These fall and spring scholarships are for continuing undergraduate,
degree-seeking students who have performed well at UWF. Students must be
in good standing with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and must be enrolled
full-time (12 sh or more per semester) in a College of Business degree
program. Awards range from $250 to $500 per semester dependent on
availability of funds.
The Charles and Fran Switzer Business
Ethics Scholarship
Undergraduate students majoring in a College of Business program who
have completed a Business Ethics course are eligible for this
scholarship. Students must show financial need (must be documented
through financial aid) and demonstrate a commitment to serving their
community. These awards are for the fall and spring semesters. Students
must be enrolled in a minimum of two courses during each semester of the
award and remain in good academic standing. Recipients of this
