CYP-Community Psychology CYP 6005 Community Psychology . . . . . 3(CALL DEPT) Introduces the student to the field of community psychology which is the branch of psychology that seeks to understand relationships between environmental conditions and the development of health and well being of all members of a community. Students will study the development of the field of community psychology and its theories and paradigms of research and action. Additionally, students will concentrate on the practice of community psychology. CYP 6538 The Consultation Process . . . . . 3(CALL DEPT) Addresses the historical roots of mental health consultation, basic concepts in mental health consultation, the consultation process, and the various types of mental health consultation. Considerable emphasis is given to working within public schools and consulting with outside agencies. Consultation is defined and contrasted to other helping relationships, and definitional issues are addressed. Includes a discussion of the skills and characteristics of the consultant, and ethical and legal considerations.
