Assists the student in developing skills for applying professional knowledge and current concepts to actual practice. CJC 4010 Punishment and Society . . . . . 3(F,S) Widely held conceptions of penology, physical design and organizational structures of prison facilities, and critical evaluation of research in penal and correctional programs. CJC 4167 Alternative Punishments . . . . . 3(F) Introduces the student to the subject of alternative punishments including social, political, and economic conditions that have contributed to the development of alternative punishments. Identifies the types of alternative punishments and the effectiveness of such options. The needs of special offender populations for corrections alternatives is also explored.
