MCB - Microbiology

MCB 3020 Microbiology . . . . . 4(F)
Prerequisite: CHM 2045 and CHM 2046.
Corequisite: MCB 3020L.
Microbial morphology, physiology and taxonomy; relationships of micro organisms to total environment. Material and supply fee will be assessed for corresponding lab.

MCB 4XXX Epidemiology of Infectious Disease . . . . . 3(S)
Prerequisite: MCB 3020.
The basic principles of epidemiology as they apply to infectious disease and the impact of infectious disease on human civilization will be addressed. The causes and distribution of current epidemics of infectious disease, including newly emerging and reemerging diseases, and the approaches being applied to defeat these diseases will be discussed. Offered concurrently with MCB 5273; graduate students will be assigned additional work.

MCB 4274 Public Health Bacteriology . . . . . 3(S)
Prerequisite: MCB 3020.
Epidemiology, diagnosis, and pathogenicity of the important pathogenic bacteria of pubic health concern. Offered concurrently with MCB 5275; graduate students will be assigned additional work.

MCB 4603 Microbial Ecology . . . . . 3(CALL DEPT)
Prerequisite: MCB 3020, MCB 4653.
Ecology of microorganisms; relationships of microorganisms to microorganisms, plants, animals, and the environment. Offered concurrently with MCB 5605; graduate students will be assigned additional work.

MCB 4653 Applied Microbiology . . . . . 4(S)
Prerequisite: MCB 3020.
Corequisite: MCB 4653L.
Continuation of MCB 3020. Basic microbiology applied to uses and control of microorganisms in health and disease, industry, agriculture and other areas of human endeavor. Material and supply fee will be assessed for corresponding lab.

MCB 4710 Biology of the Protists . . . . . 3(F)
