ISC 3077 Social and Ethical Issues in Physics . . . . . 1(CALL DEPT)
Prerequisite: PHY 2053, PHY 2054 and PHY 2053L, PHY 2054L or PHY 2048, PHY 2049 and PHY 2048L, PHY 2049L.
Provide physics education majors with the opportunity to examine the ethical and social impact of the principal contemporary issues forced upon society by technology. Emphasis will be placed upon the applied physics programs.

ISC 5517 Buddhist Psychology . . . . . 2(CALL DEPT)
Psychological overview of Buddhist theory and practice as they relate to everyday living, clinical practice and personal and transpersonal growth. Drawing from Theravada, Mahayana, Tantra and Zen, topics include four noble truths, suffering, concentration, jhanas, dependent origination, attachments, mindfulness, vipassana, nature of self, consciousness, compassion, insight, freedom, and enlightenment.

ISC 5517L Buddhist Psychology Lab . . . . . 1(CALL DEPT)
Pre/Corequisite: ISC 5517.
Students learn and practice different types of meditation to cultivate concentration and mindfulness during meditation and daily living. Construction of a personal mandala and regular class attendance and participation are required. Permission is required.

ISC 5518C Transpersonal Psychology . . . . . 3(CALL DEPT)
Human potential and personal-conscious growth, blending Eastern and Western psychologies. Topics include learning consensus reality, states and levels of consciousness, meditation and mindfulness, happiness, attachments and transpersonal counseling. Course requirements include keeping a journal, writing a comprehensive paper and practicing meditation. Permission is required for auditing.
