EED 4212 Behavior Management for the Emotionally Handicapped . . . . . 3(S)
Prerequisite: EEX 2010, EED 4220.
Techniques of stimulus control, shaping new behavior, increasing, maintaining, reducing behavior, group contingency contracting and precision teaching appropriate for the emotionally handicapped. Admission to Teacher Education is required.

Pre/Corequisite: EEX 2010.
Identification, placement and the delivery of services to the handicapped population. Adjunctive therapies, educational approaches and their practical applications. Admission to Teacher Education is required.

EED 4224 Instructional Strategies for Teaching Students with Emotional Handicaps . . . . . 3(F,S)
Prerequisite: EEX 2010, ELD 4115 or EMR 4221, EED 4220.
Corequisite: ELD 4945 or EMR 4945.
Includes development, implementation, and evaluation of educational plans; special approaches to teaching functional skills; developmental programming and data-based management. Admission to Teacher Education is required.

EED 4230 Curriculum Development for the Emotionally Handicapped . . . . . 3(F,S)
Prerequisite: EEX 2010, EED 4220.
Corequisite: ELD 4941, EMR 4944.
Objectives, teaching techniques, materials and activities for educating emotionally handicapped children in various school settings. Admission to Teacher Education is required.

EED 4940 Practicum in Teaching of Children with Emotional Handicaps . . . . . 3(F,S)
Three contact hours per semester hour of credit in unit for children with emotional handicaps. Demonstration of ability to write curriculum prescriptions and individualized instruction required. Admission to Teacher Education and permission of instructor; passing scores on ICFE or Practica for professional education and subject area(s); completion of degree coursework are required.

EED 4941 Curriculum, Materials and Technology Practicum for Students with Emotional Handicaps . . . . . 3(F,S)
Prerequisite: EED 4220.
Pre/Corequisite: ELD 4115 or EMR 4212.
Addresses curriculum, materials, technologies and other resources available to teach students with emotional and/or behavioral problems. Also addresses how curriculum from various content areas can be integrated. Admission to Teacher Education is required.

EED 4944 Instructional Strategies/Technology/Reading Practicum for Students with Emotional Handicaps . . . . . 3(F,S)
Prerequisite: EED 4230, EMR 4944 or ELD 4941, EME 2040, RED 3310.
Pre/Corequisite: EME 3410 with EED 4944.
Addresses effective strategies, reading assessment/instruction, and technological innovations related to the instruction of students with emotional and/or behavioral problems. Admission to Teacher Education is required.

EED 5940 Practicum in Emotionally Handicapped . . . . . 3(F,S)
Total of 100 contact hours in an approved facility for emotionally handicapped children. Lesson plans, curriculum and intervention decisions, prescriptive teaching. Advanced application in data based decision making. Graded on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis only. Permission is required.

EED 6116 Assessment of Exceptional Children-EH . . . . . 3(SS)
Development, administration and scoring of group and individual tests for determining scope and depth of educational achievement as well as formal and informal tests of specific abilities and behaviors which relate to or constitute prerequisites to educational programs. Students develop proficiency in the development and use of tests and rating scales for emotionally handicapped students.

EED 6235 Curriculum Prescriptions for Exceptional Children-EH . . . . . 3(S)
Curriculum development; selection, evaluation, and modification of curriculum materials and programs. Translation of assessment data into educational programs.

EED 6247 Instructional Strategies-EH . . . . . 3(SS)
Instructional techniques, motivational strategies, behavioral management; determining scope, sequence and pacing; development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized educational plans; data-based management. Taught concurrently with ELD 6247, EMR 6247.

EED 6705 Research Methods and Procedures-EH . . . . . 3(CALL DEPT)
Research methods in general and procedures for studying problems related to emotionally handicapped children. The student will identify a problem, conduct a literature review and develop a method for studying the selected problem. Simulated educational data, relevant to emotional handicap, will be analyzed with aid of a computer. The student will use the results to answer questions relevant to emotionally handicapped students.

EED 6930 Issues and Trends in Emotionally Handicapped Conditions . . . . . 3(F)
Current issues and trends associated with the assessment, placement and treatment of emotionally handicapped populations. Developmental problems, interpersonal relations, behavioral problems and implications for career planning, vocational training, independent living and life style enrichment.

EED 6942 Research Practicum-EH . . . . . 3(F,S,SS)
Prerequisite: EED 6705.
Identification of a problem in the area of EH, review of pertinent literature and preparation of a proposal with all the necessary information, conduct of research in a professional manner, evaluation and written report of the results. Permission is required.
