Administrators and teachers will develop skills to manage student behaviors
that constitute crises. This need has emerged as traditional restraints on
students' behavior have been eroded and schools deal with students who suffer
from a lack of proper socialization and emotional self-control. The students
will apply major psychological theories to management of human behavior in
schools. The student will design a systematic behavior management plan,
including intervention in crisis situations, for student in a school setting.

Provides exposure for educational leadership students to high performing
educational leaders. Students will interact with high performing leaders, study
current research in educational leadership, develop group experiences in
theoretical problems and solutions, and spend observation time in the work site
of a high performing educational leader.

Reviews research design concepts in the context of the proposed dissertation
topic. Students work with the instructor of record (and involve the doctoral
committee chair) to write a comprehensive problem statement, produce a
comprehensive literature review, and develop a solid methodology for the study.
Development of a preliminary Human Subject (IRB) application is another product.
40 sh of doctoral course work is required prior to enrolling in this course and
permission is required.

Major individual research in an area of significant educational interest;
designed specifically for candidates in the Ed. D. Curriculum and Instruction
program. Will reflect intensive educational research produced by the student and
collaboratively developed with the student's graduate committee. Admission to
candidacy and permission is required.
