Practicum in the art of solving problems across the physics curriculum. Intended to bridge introductory university physics to the upper-level physics core. Prerequisite: PHY 2049 and MAC 2313.

PHZ 3601 Special Relativity . . . . . 3(F)
Invariance of the spacetime interval, free-float frames, relativity of simultaneity, time dilation, Lorentz contraction, twin paradox, energy momentum 4-vector, and Einstein's energy mass relation. Offered only on the internet. Available for dual enrollment by students currently taking high school physics. Permission of instructor is required.

PHZ 4113 Mathematical Physics I . . . . . 3(F)
Algebra of complex numbers, Taylor series, Fourier series, vector algebra and calculus, and curvilinear coordinates. Material and supply fee will be assessed. Prerequisite: MAC 2313.

PHZ 4114 Mathematical Physics II . . . . . 3(S)
Special functions, boundary value problems, partial differential equations, series solutions, and integral transforms. Material and supply fee will be assessed. Prerequisite: MAP 2302 and PHZ 4113.
