Psychological overview of Buddhist theory and practice as they relate to
everyday living, clinical practice and personal and transpersonal growth.
Drawing from Theravada, Mahayana, Tantra and Zen, topics include four noble
truths, suffering, concentration, jhanas, dependent origination, attachments,
mindfulness, vipassana, nature of self, consciousness, compassion, insight,
freedom, and enlightenment.
ISC 5518C Transpersonal Psychology . . . . . 3(CALL DEPT)
Human potential and personal-conscious growth, blending Eastern and Western
psychologies. Topics include learning consensus reality, states and levels of
consciousness, meditation and mindfulness, happiness, attachments and
transpersonal counseling. Course requirements include keeping a journal, writing
a comprehensive paper and practicing meditation. Permission of instructor
required for auditing.
