StewartPROGRAM REQUIREMENTS A grade of "C" or better must be earned in all courses that are part of a major program. Deficiencies in art requirements may be satisfied by course work at UWF. However, none of the art courses in the General Studies curriculum may be used to satisfy junior/senior requirements. All course choices must have art faculty approval. The Department of Art reserves the right to retain for the University's collection any work produced by students as part of the requirements for their degree programs. After acceptance into the program, all B.F.A. students must complete the minimum of 18 sh of studio and/or art history courses at UWF. B.F.A. students must participate in two group and two individual critique sessions each semester of their junior and senior years, observing only on the first group review. The group reviews are scheduled by the faculty in or around the 6th and 11th weeks of the semester; singular reviews are arranged by students with their faculty committees. If no problems in progress are noted during the junior year, B.F.A students must submit a summary portfolio during the senior year "final" individual critique session and participate in the B.F.A. final show in the Art Gallery for the summer session (prepared during the Senior Seminar course). An Interdisciplinary Arts program is available for students who want to pursue a broad background in the fine and performing arts. The program is primarily offered on the OWCC Niceville campus but may also be completed at the UWF Pensacola and Fort Walton Beach campuses. Further information is available in the Humanities Interdisciplinary section of this catalog. In addition to general University requirements, students seeking the B.F.A. in Art must meet the requirements listed below. Course descriptions are listed alphabetically by prefix in the back of this catalog. General Studies (36 sh) For additional information see the General Studies section of this catalog.
