Focuses on financial planning and financial modeling for e-business firms.
Students will perform library and Internet based research on industry trends in
the global, national, regional, and state environments and will use the
information to model a hypothetical or existing business firm in EXCEL. The
financial modeling process will include industry financial analysis, financial
planning and forecasting, and valuation of the business. Prerequisite: FIN 3403.
FIN 4XX1 Venture Capital Finance . . . . . 3(F,S)
Most college finance courses that cover firm financing activities usually
focus on capital structure theory, dividend theory, and the specifics of debt,
equity, and lease financing. These topics, however, are not relevant for
entrepreneurial e-business firms. Entrepreneurial e-business firms (and other
firms in the tech and biotech areas) must typically rely on venture capital
financing during their early stages of growth. This class is specifically
designed to focus on the venture capital (VC) financing process. Prerequisite:
