Theoretical and practical approach to problems of lighting for the
stage. Lighting instruments, intensity control, basic electrical safety.
Application of lighting design principles and ideas to a variety of
projects. Crew assignment as required.

Basic principles of the art of stage makeup. Practice in the design
and execution of makeup for various purposes.

Techniques of patterning, cutting, fitting, draping, and basic

Theatrical producing in America. A practical examination of the
responsibilities of the theatre staff, the commercial New York theatre,
stock and resident theatre, college and community theatre. Includes the
study of cost control, box office.

Stage costume design and construction; survey of historical periods.
Emphasis on color, line, form and materials. Permission of instructor is
required. Prerequisite: TPA 2000.
TPA 4060 Scene Design . . . . . 3(3,0,0)
Practical and theoretical study of approaches to scene design for the
theatre. Emphasis on developing an appropriate visual statement
supporting the total production concept. Student projects and permission
of instructor is required. Prerequisite: TPA 2000.
TPA 4077 Scene Painting . . . . . 2(0,0,6)
Practice in various techniques of scene painting. Consideration of
pigments, color mixing, kinds of paints, paint equipment and its care.
Material and supply fee will be assessed.
