ISM 2948 Service Learning Field Study I .

Placement in community agency or other social organizational setting
related to field of study. Supervision by faculty and agency. Students
and faculty "customize" courses to fit a full range of
services that are available in the setting. Student must be able to draw
correlation between the discipline and field study. Journal and
reflective experience paper are required. With the agreement of the
student's faculty sponsor, a minimum of 4-6 hours per week must be done
at the field site per semester hour of credit. Permission of instructor
is required.
ISM 3011 Management Information Systems .

Use and application of information system technology in the business
environment. Concepts include the components of an M.I.S., the systems
development process, and the uses of the basic types of information
systems in support of the organization's goals and objectives. Projects
use the COB micro computer lab. Prerequisite: ACG 2021, CGS 2570.
Corequisite: MAN 3025.
ISM 3235 Business Development Environments

Explores the concepts involved in the development of event-driven
business applications. Concepts covered include GUI application design
and development, object-oriented systems linking business objects, and
client-server environments. Course uses Visual Basic to demonstrate the
concepts. Prior programming experience preferred but not required.

experience in the intended field. Reinforcing academic preparation;
confirming education and career goals; personal and professional
development; early start in career; earnings toward self-support;

ISM 4113 Business Systems Design . . . .

A project-based introduction to the principles of business
information systems design, including the basic methods and procedures
involved in planning and controlling the development and modification of
a computer- based information system in an organization. Students use
modern microcomputer-based, computer-aided systems design tools and
techniques to complete design projects. Focuses on the importance of
end-user specifications for information systems projects. Prerequisite:
ISM 3011 and ISM 3235.
ISM 4300 Systems Planning, Design and Control

Techniques for the planning, design and control of information
systems. Stresses link between strategic planning of the organization
and strategic planning of the management information system.
Prerequisite: ISM 3011.
ISM 4400 Decision Support and Expert Systems

Current tools and techniques available to support managerial
decision-making. Analysis and practice in the building and use of
decision support systems and expert/knowledge-based systems.
Prerequisite: ISM 3011.
ISM 6026 Management of Information Systems and Technology

Provides the M.B.A. student with a contemporary managerial
perspective on the effective use of information systems in global
organizations through case analyses and class discussions. Topics
include: the business value of information systems; integration of
information systems with enterprise strategy; the use of information
systems to achieve organizational redesign for strategic advantage; and,
applying the processes of leadership and management to information
systems planning and implementation. Each student prepares a project for
the M.B.A. portfolio. Prerequisite: ISM 3011 or equivalent.
