Introduction to computers and algorithms. Programming in a high level language. Topics include procedural abstraction, data abstraction, and structured/object oriented programming techniques, recursion and manipulating dynamic memory. Students will learn the fundamentals of developing coherent, expressive programs MAC 2233 is CIS majors, MAC 2311 is for CS/CE/EE majors. Prerequisite: MAC 2233 or MAC 2311.

CIS 3512 System Documentation . . . . . . 3(3,0,0)
Introduces the student to oral and written communication skills required for effective system development. Includes exercises to aid in the understanding and documenting of user requirements, peer review sessions to better understand collaborative work sessions, and CASE tools and CSCW (computer supported cooperative work) software to develop skills in group-oriented project activities and report writing. Familiarizes student with the methodology (technical, economical and managerial) necessary to design practical systems. Every student, working in a team, undertakes a selected project under the guidance of the instructor and develops a software system for an outside client. Each team presents their results at important milestones throughout the course as the system evolves. Prerequisite: CEN 3031 and COP 4710.
