Students will study paint, color, the tools to use and how to use them. The student is instructed to paint using still lifes, landscapes, possibly figures, and other objects/subjects. Using the computer and its applications as a creative tool in the process of making art. Designed as a "fine arts" class, as opposed to a course stressing computer graphics. Explores the creative uses involved in and issues surrounding computer generated imagery. Exposes students to a variety of computer imagery and ideas providing a contemporary view of the digital image in art today. Material and supply fee will be assessed.

ART 2701C Intermediate Sculptural Form . . . . . . 3(1,5,0)
In-depth exposure to appropriate fabrication methods in three- dimensional materials including wood, metal, and stone. Beginning hands-on investigation of formal issues in conjunction with contemporary art concepts. Required (or equivalent) for all students who plan to continue with sculpture. Material and supply fee will be assessed. Prerequisite: ART 1300C, ART 1301C, ART 2201C, ART 2203C.

ART 2948 Service Learning Field Study I . . . . . . 1-3(VARIABLE)
Placement in community agency or other social organizational setting related to field of study. Supervision by faculty and agency. Students and faculty "customize" courses to fit a full range of services that are available in the setting. Student must be able to draw correlation between the discipline and field study. Journal and reflective experience paper are required. With the agreement of the student's faculty sponsor, a minimum of 6-8 hours per week must be done at the field site per semester hour of credit. Permission of instructor is required.

An intermediate computer imaging course designed to develop an understanding of the industry standard image manipulation software, Photoshop. Exploration into variations of the enameling medium using a variety of techniques including cloisonne, limoges, basse-taille and champleve. While there is a continuation of the development of many of the concepts of drawing from ART 3312C, this course is dedicated to the study of life drawing concepts. The human figure will be the primary subject matter. Extensive experimentation and exploration of drawing media use in relation to the figure will be stressed. Permission of instructor is required. An intensive, advanced computer imaging course. Combines all previous applications, computer skills and creative/aesthetic development. Students incorporate image manipulation, sound, Lingo programming and 2D animation, utilizing Macromedia-Director. Labor intensive, as the application has a high learning curve. Permission of instructor is required. Prerequisite ART 3604C.

ART 4682C Digital Multimedia II . . . . . . 3(2,4,0)
Continuation of Digital Multimedia I and is an intensive, advanced computer imaging course. Allows students time to put to the Director techniques into practice, while combining all previous applications, computer skills and creative/aesthetic development. Students incorporate image manipulation, sound, Lingo programming language and 2D animation, utilizing Macromedia-Director, Sound Edit 16, Adobe After Effects and Premiere. Is labor intensive, designed for highly motivated, self- disciplined students. Permission of instructor is required. Prerequisite: ART 4680C.

Investigation of individual visual direction through refined technical and content-based research. Continuing exposure to contemporary visual issues and research into postmodernism. A critical thinking and discussion course for advanced studio (BFA) majors. Students review their collective work in progress and discuss it in relation to themselves, the process, art history, and contemporary issues.
