It aims to prepare students to analyze social interaction and to pursue the graduate education necessary to work in the discipline professionally. The department offers coursework in the fundamental areas of sociology (organization, social psychology, research methods, and social theory) and coursework in the social institutions of the family, religion, work, and leisure. Special interest, problem, and content courses are available as electives.
