PCO 2948 Service Learning Field Study I . . . . . 1-3(VARIABLE)
Placement in community agency or other social organizational setting related to field of study. Supervision by faculty and agency. Students and faculty "customize" courses to fit a full range of services that are available in the setting. Student must be able to draw correlation between the discipline and field study. Journal and reflective experience paper are required. With the agreement of the student's faculty sponsor, a minimum of 4-6 hours per week must be done at the field site per semester hour of credit.

Addresses the similarities and differences among various culturally diverse groups; and informs counselors of the characteristics and processes necessary to become a culturally skilled counselor.

PCO 6946 Practicum in Counseling . . . . . 3(2,0)
Basic communication skills, issues in counseling and case supervision. Emphasis on individual counseling. During the term, student is placed in a community agency for 8-10 hours per week. Students will complete at least 150 hours of field placement of which at least 40 will be in direct client contact. In addition, there is a two hour seminar and a one hour individual supervision session each week. Prerequisite: CLP 5166, PCO 6216, PCO 6206C and permission of instructor.

PCO 6947 Practicum in Counseling II . . . . . 3(2,0)
Individual counseling experiences with a gradual emphasis on leading and facilitating groups. During the term, student is placed in a community agency for eight to ten hours per week. In addition, there is a two-hour seminar and a one-hour supervisory session each week. Prerequisite: PCO 6946; Pre- or Corequisites: PCO 6246 and permission of instructor.

PCO 6948 Internship in Counseling . . . . . 1-6(VARIABLE)
Supervised counseling experience in community agency, school, or organization where student serves as staff member. Student participates in full range of services available in the setting. A weekly university based seminar will accompany field placement. Students in the 60sh M.A. Licensure Option must register for more than one term (total of 9sh required) and will complete a minimum of 850 hours of field placement, of which at least 240 will be in direct client contact. An internship paper and portfolio are required. Students in the 42sh M.A. degree program must complete 3sh with at least 150 hours of field placement. Prerequisite: Permission of instructor based on Counseling Track Policy Manual.
