The department offers a master's degree specialization in Alternative Education within the M.Ed. curriculum and instruction program.

The Alternative Education program is a non-initial certification program. This program is designed to enhance and extend the skills required of professionals who work with at-risk youth, regardless of age, in educational and agency environments. Students in this program could add certification areas to their teaching certificate with the judicious selection of elective courses.
