Students and faculty "customize" courses to fit a full range of services that are available in the setting. Student must be able to draw correlation between the discipline and field study. Journal and reflective experience paper are required. With the agreement of the student's faculty sponsor, a minimum of 4-6 hours per week must be done at the field site per semester hour of credit.

Addresses the similarities and differences among various culturally diverse groups; and informs counselors of the characteristics and processes necessary to become a culturally skilled counselor.

PCO 6946 Practicum in Counseling I . . . . . 3(2,0)
Basic communication skills, issues in counseling and case supervision. Emphasis on individual counseling. During the term, student is placed in a community agency for 8-10 hours per week. In addition, there is a two hour seminar and a one hour individual supervision session each week. Prerequisite: CLP 5166 (may be taken concurrently), PCO 6216, PCO 6206C and permission of instructor.

PCO 6947 Practicum in Counseling II . . . . . 3(2,0)
Individual counseling experiences with a gradual emphasis on leading and facilitating groups. During the term, student is placed in a community agency for eight to ten hours per week. In addition, there is a two-hour seminar and a one-hour supervisory session each week. Prerequisite: PCO 6946; Pre- or Corequisites: PCO 6246 and permission of instructor.
