ARE 2948 Service Learning Field Study I . . . . . 1-3(Variable)
Placement in community agency or other social organizational setting related to field of study. Supervision by faculty and agency. Students and faculty "customize" courses to fit a full range of services that are available in the setting. Student must be able to draw correlation between the discipline and field study. Journal and reflective experience paper are required. With the agreement of the student's faculty sponsor, a minimum of 6-8 hours per week must be done at the field site per semester hour of credit.

Art education on elementary level. Orientation in philosophy, materials and procedures for elementary education majors. Not open to art majors.

ARE 4316C Special Methods in Art Education . . . . . 4(2,4)
Studio activity dealing with contemporary concepts in art education, instructional and resource materials, evaluation and development. Curriculum development and implementation into the concurrent practicum. Individual criticism, class discussion and classroom observation and participation in the public schools. (8 hrs. observation and 8 hrs. participation). Prerequisite: EDG 3323C

ARE 4350 History, Philosophy, and Concepts in Art Education . . . . . 3(3,0)
Assists the student develop a personal philosophy and approach to the teaching of art. Investigates early thought in the development of the discipline. Explores prominent art educators, past and present, ideas about significant issues in the field. Examines contemporary philosophies, concepts, and movements in art education.
