Designed to introduce students to the dynamics of drug addiction from a physiological perspective. Legal and historical data related to current categories of drugs will be explored. Basic pharmacology and physiology; acute and chronic pathologic effects, and the physiological symptoms of withdrawal for commonly abused drugs will be a major focus of the course.
