BACHELOR'S DEGREE PROGRAM
The sociology bachelor's degree program has two goals. It aims to prepare students to analyze social interaction and to pursue the graduate education necessary to work in the discipline professionally. The department offers coursework in the fundamental areas of sociology (organization, social psychology, research methods, and social theory) and coursework in the social institutions of the family, religion, work, and leisure. Special interest, problem, and content courses are available as electives.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
In addition to general University requirements and General Studies requirements found in the 1996-97 Catalog, students seeking the B.A. in Sociology must meet the requirements listed below.
Consult with your academic advisor for courses which may satisfy both the General Studies requirements and common prerequisites. A minimum course grade of "C" is required in courses required by the department.
The Sociology Honors Specialization prepares students for graduate programs in sociology or other social sciences. Students should enter the program in the first or second semester at the University and must have a 3.0 GPA. Students must maintain an upper division GPA of 3.3.
