Tutorial on FileZilla

This tutorial is meant to augment the in class tutorial. Please Note: All settings for the UWF Web servers are at this page (you will need to be logged into the UWF services): https://confluence.uwf.edu/display/public/Filezilla+FTP+Software. If you have trouble with the software or the setting you can also call on the UWF ITS Help Desk

You will need to download the software. UWF officially supports Filezilla. FileZilla is a free software package supported by the ITS Help Desk. FileZilla software is available free of charge from the FileZilla website and works with Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

Remember to download FREE version of the CLIENT software for your operating system. Link to FileZilla website

Next install the FREE version of the CLIENT software on your computer.

Launch Filezilla from the install location n your computer.

Open the Site Manager. Click the icon that looks like a collection of computer towers connected in the upper left of the interface.

This is the Site Manager. Click to create the button at the bottom (1) to create the credentials for a new site. You can have many sites you manage.

Next name the credentials (arrow #2) with something that will be memorable to you. Often this will be the name of the project, business, or even the place (UWF web pages?) of your web server.

Arrow #1 shows the name the student has assigned this site.

Arrow #3 shows all the fields that we need to fill in to connect with the UWF web servers. You are going to fill out the GENERAL TAB (see tabs at top of that interface).

Fill in the required information.

After you click 'Connect', you may get a message like this, you can trust the service. If you want to skip this security check on every activity click the radio check box on the bottom left.

This is the main interface. On the left are the local files, remote files to the right. double click the folder named Web to open your web server folder.

You can drag and drop files onto the remote window to upload.
